About this blog

In the beginning… A research tool for advisers

Hello and welcome. I’m Kurt Linn. This blog started as a spin-off from my book, The Trouble with Mutual Funds — to track the flow of information that confirmed or expanded on the troubles that I exposed in the book.

I hope this newsblog serves countless visitors in countless ways. A founding goal for this platform was to provide a research tool for advisers who want objective, third-party literature to assist them in their efforts to educate their clients and prospects. That has not changed, so feel free to put the information to good use.

While this blog still tracks the troubles with mutual funds, the content has branched out, into issues such as:

  • wealth management
  • portfolio optimization
  • investment stylestwmf_thumb1
  • asset allocation
  • index funds
  • 401(k)s
  • ETFs
  • modern and post-modern portfolio theory
  • behavioral finance

Other topics and over-arching questions include: what is the truth about investing in the markets today? Where does wisdom lie? What are the snares in the way? Who is up to no good? Whose acting a fool? Who has provided a model for the future? What are the marks of intelligent portfolio investing?

We are always working to improve. If you have any ideas on or comments for Mutual Fund Scandal Watch, you can share them by contacting us via online form.

Regards,

Kurt Linn
